Hi all I know that some of you have had concerns about what has been happening at Wylfa and I hope that the following report helps. I was unable to tell you all about this at the time due to the legal process. All the best for the forthcoming angling year. Phil
As a result of information received, a Fishery officer from the North Western and North Wales Sea Fisheries Committee, MFA and the Police carried out an operation at Wylfa power station on the 29th of September 2007. Reports had been received of large quantities of Bass with a significant numbers undersize being landed. A number of angler’s catches were examined for size compliance. Mr Brendan Heap of Oldham was found to have 80 fish in his possession of which 17 were found to be under the legal minimum of 36 cm., the smallest being 31cm. Heap was cautioned and reported for prosecution. At Holyhead Magistrates court on the 10th of January he pleaded guilty and was fined £750 plus £75 costs.
