that looks very much like a lesser weaver to me.
did the dorsal fin have 3 sharp looking spikes and a black colouring to the fin?

Looks like a sand Goby to me, colours right but I can't see the black/orange fin on its back plus the body shape looks all wrong in my opinion

LOL ...............now its even more confusing - I said a goby when it was caught but Nic looked and said it had a spiky fin so leave it alone...... it certainly dosn't look the same shape as your pic Jon[1]

Get millions of sand goby's whilst using the sandeel net and its just the right shape, size and colour to be a goby but very wise to be careful.

My votes sand goby because there is no sign of the black fin but then I could be wrong [10][10][10]

We call them Stingets around these parts {thu}

My Grandad used to catch loads in his shrimpnet when he was putting, so he used to carry a fork with him so that when he was riddleing the shrimps and cleaning them he would use the fork to flick the stingets out of the riddle and back into the sea {co}

18 year ago now I was caught out by one when I went to fish the net with my Old Fella. Early hours of the morning I picked the net up and the weaver had me quick as a flash. The old fella told me to peeeeee on the sting, so I did and I'm still here today to tell the tale [ok]

now i see the weever piccie i gotta agree its NOT a weever.
looking at your picture karen it appears there is a reasonably long dorsal fin that is folded flat so the goby is a good suggestion.
it's still common sense to be careful though.
