Hi All, Yes we do work with imigration and other agencies. As you can imagine there is a considerable amount of interest in "organised" groups of vulnrable people exploiting stocks for commercial gain. As a general rule if the fishing is for there own consumption the same rules apply to evrybody, that is to say size limits, method of fishing, permits etc. Illegal imigrants working commercialy have been detained on a number of ocasions. With regard to the specific issue at Leasowe I know that my opposite number for the area checks this out and I have checked it out (with police assistance) when he has been off. The netter is a local of Veitnamese extraction. If you do see the large numbers sugested we would be VERY INTERESTED TO KNOW! All the best Phil

Are there similar regulations applying to fresh water?
There's a real issue with some of our newly arrivals who don't appreciate that fishing is a sport in the UK, and everything they catch goes in the bucket for soup.

Hi, yes fresh water is the EA. If you see something of concern in that area of activity, give them a ring on the 0800 number on the back of your licence. Phil

Phil, do you have a name and number for your opposite number ?? like many others i don't have a problem with people collecting for their own consumption but when you get about 50 then the chances are they are not. Also if they are driving porche 4x4's then this tells me they are earning serious money from somewhere .

Hi Neil, I think you will have to contact him via this number 01524 68745 as I cannot give out numbers for other fishery officers (policy) His name is Steve Brown. But my number is 07920134249, I can always pass the info on. Regards Phil

Hi Niel, we are a bit thin on the ground, the chap that covers that area covers from Fleetwood to the Dee then I cover from the Dee to Bangor and round Anglesey so if we are at the far ends of our districts or off it can take a little longer . Also we have to assist in other areas if required. If possible we attend on that tide but if not it is still important that we have the info so that we can set up a planed attendance for the next tide or when the same set of conditions arrise, its all about patterns of activity. All the best Phil

I see these people all the time knocking around at various marks, I remember once at Macky Rock a group of them bagging up the equivelent of a small trawlers worth of Macky. I realy do not think they were being caught for thier 'Own Use'.

I am far from racist but I think the law needs to take action against these people.

If you think that's bad my Dad saw some of our new friends from Eastern Europe taking a couple of ducks from the local park home for tea - they threw some bread on the ground to attract them then grabbed two that came within reach, stretched their necks, bagged them and had scarpered by the time he ran over to the other side of the lake!
One of his mates saw another one of them knocking a couple of roach on the head and throwing them in his bucket in the same park (Princes in Liverpool) - so he returned the favour by knocking him on the nose and throwing the now dead fish back in for the pike rather than let this scummbag get away with it.
What the hell's going on??

Please could you keep an eye on Aber/Llanfairfechan side as someone is catching and keeping small Bass in numerous quantities. It is thought that they are using long lines. Is this legal even if for private consumption?
